Upcoming Hollywood Horror THE PYRAMIDS acquired by 20th Century Fox

The backdrop of pyramids has served as a premise in many Hollywood blockbusters. Be it The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, Alien vs. Predator or Tomb Raiders, the stunning visuals of these ancient Egyptian structures have always been a favourite.

Director-Producer Alexandre Aja has been associated with many notable Hollywood Horrors such has Haute Tension, Piranha 3D and Mirrors. His next venture as a producer has now been completed and is titled The Pyramids, directed by Alexandre’s long time associate Gregory Levasseur, who had also co-written Mirrors, The Hills Have Eyes and Haute Tension with him.

The film tells the story of a team of US archaeologists who are searching for pyramids in the Egyptian desert. After having discovered one they decide to dig deep inside, revealing the dark catacombs of the pyramids – only to find themselves lost. Their excitement for this new discovery soon disappears as they find themselves trapped inside. Now desperate for daylight they realise that not only are they entombed but hunted too.

Daniel Meersand (Removal) and Nick Simon (Cold comes the night) have written the film. Ashley Hinshaw (Chronicle, About Cherry) and James Buckley (The Inbetweeners) are playing the main roles.

The film has been picked by 20th Century Fox for a release and set to hit the screens in December 2014. Bloody Disgusting has reported about the release of a poster, however the trailer of the film is still awaited.
