One of the most successful found footage horror franchise Paranormal Activity so far has 4 sequels and two spin offs, but the best of them was undoubtedly the part 3, directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, who also directed the Catfish documentary that has since become an MTV staple. The same director duo is now ready with their new horror-thriller titled Nerve, which we’ve now learned will open in theaters on September 16th by Lions gate.
Based on the YA novel by Jeanne Ryan and a screenplay by Jessica Sharzer, February, Scream 4 and “American Horror Story’s” Emma Roberts stars with Dave Franco (Warm Bodies, Fright Night).
The synopsis is here: “Hard-working high school senior Vee DeMarco (Emma Roberts) has had it with living life on the sidelines. When she’s asked by the online game of Nerve – Are you a Watcher or a Player? – Vee decides to sign up for just one dare in what seems like a fun, harmless game. But as she finds herself caught up in the thrill of the adrenaline-fueled competition, the game begins to take a sinister turn with increasingly dangerous acts, leading her into a high stakes finale that will determine her entire future.“
Emily Meade, Miles Heizer, Kimiko Glenn, Machine Gun Kelly, and Juliette Lewis (Natural Born Killers) round out the cast.
