Well known for directing some distressing gore movies like Hostel and Cabin Fever, director Eli Roth has been working on a cannibal slasher horror and is sparking great attention amongst horror buffs.
The trailer of the film released last week, displaying some unique methods of torture especially in terms of the kinds of weapons used. The story revolves around a group of students from New York who travel to the Amazon to protect a ancient local tribe from diminishing, however get besieged by the very tribe they were going out to protect.
Eli Roth had said in one of his earlier interviews that The Green Inferno was inspired by Cannibal Holocaust, a 1980 Italian film directed by Ruggero Deodato considered the mother of all gore films. It was also shot in the Amazon and is know for exhibiting violent crimes, sexual assaults and torture on animals, attracting worldwide criticism and eventual banning of the film.
