After ruling the Indian Box Office for around two decades, director brothers Tulsi Ramsey and Shyam Ramsey stopped making horror films twenty years ago. There is only a TV serial ZEE HORROR SHOW and a Twilight inspired horror film NEIGHBOURS to their credit in the last few years.
Now after a long break, the Ramsey brothers have announced their comeback with a remake of their 1988 blockbuster horror film VEERANA in 3D. The original film is still a favorite among the Ramsey fans especially for the sensuous performance by the lead actress Jasmine. The plot revolves around a girl who gets possessed in her childhood by a vengeful spirit. She would leave her house late at night in search of victims, whom she would first seduce and then kill. The spirit inside her is of a witch Nikita, who was killed by the people of the village and now is determined to take vengeance on those people by using this beautiful and lissome girl.
The film was stalled at the Indian Censor Board for a period of more than three years with the main objection being to the racy scenes in the film, which the producers argued were the requirement of the subject. The debutant actress Jasmine played the role of the young girl with Hemant Birje and Sahila Chaddha enacting some pivotal roles. Skimpy clothes and raunchy scenes are now common in cinema but not so in the 1980s when the Ramsey Brothers encashed on it. Lets see what the Ramsey brothers can offer the audience in terms of their distinct style of filmmaking.
